Chelsea Match Report And Players Ratings And Man Of The Match Against Liverpool

As expected, a 1-1 result for Chelsea and Liverpool in this huge game. Both teams didn’t want to lose or concede a goal and were playing by a defensive plan, especially Conte who played in Mourinho’s bus plan for the first 70 minutes.

Conte played three midfielders who have more of a defensive role, but that couldn’t really help Chelsea due to the bad form Drinkwater and Bakayoko were in. However, Chelsea was able to score a goal and get one valuable point.

We will rate our players after every match, here are Chelsea Insider players ratings:

Thibaut Courtois: nothing much to do, but had a couple of decent saves at the 81st minute and 91st minute. Can’t be really blamed for Salah’s goal. 7/10

Andreas Christensen: Average match. Didn’t really do any mistakes but can’t help in scoring. 6/10

Gary Cahill: A poor match by Chelsea’s captain. Not his night. Had several floppy moments. 4/10

Cesar Azpilicueta: One of the very few players who is trying today, can’t be really blamed for Salah’s goal. 7/10

Tiemoue Bakayoko: Had to be taken off earlier. Very poor match and laked any confident 7/10

Drinkwater: A poor match as well, especially in the second half. 5/10

N’Golo Kante: A warrior in the midfield. He was fighting for every ball. 8/10

Marcos Alonso: Was defending all the time until Liverpool’s goal. Average match and missed a chance at the 83rd minute. 6/10

Davide Zappacosta: Victor Moses had to start over him. Other than his long shot in the 24th minute, didn’t impress at all. 5/10

Eden Hazard: The only player attacking with Conte’s plan and behind all the counter attacks. Had a dangerous long shot at the 21st minute as well. 8/10

Alvaro Morata:  We didn’t see him a lot, but was trying his best. Had a couple of shots but couldn’t score. 6/10

Subs

Cesc Fabregas: Tried to help to score the goal. Didn’t really impress. 5/10
Willian: He keeps proving that he shouldn’t be sold in January. Willian was behind Chelsea’s last 5 goals. 8/10
Pedro: not enough time to impress. 5/10

Man of the match: Willian came off the bench and scored within minutes. A super sub for Conte and deserves the man of the match for Chelsea.

Antonio Conte (manager): Maybe that’s all what he can do with the fatigue the players are suffering from due to the Champions League match. Managed to get a point from a tough team. Not the perfect match though due to defending all the time. 7/10
